US 20: Pioneer Mnt. – Eddyville (PME) Turnkey Mitigation Project

After eight years of managing the first turnkey, full-delivery mitigation project for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), we are excited to announce that the Pioneer Mnt. – Eddyville (PME) Turnkey Mitigation Project has moved into the long-term stewardship phase through a MB&G-brokered partnership between ODOT, The Wetlands Conservancy, and Weyerhaeuser.

MB&G led a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the project from the early site selection phase and property owner coordination through the design, construction, and post-construction establishment phases. The project included culvert removal on a stream with high quality salmon habitat, stream channel restoration, road decommissioning, wetland creation and enhancement, floodplain restoration, forest thinning restoration, riparian buffer enhancement, and conveyance of private timberland to the U.S. Forest Service for Late Successional Reserve management to offset impacts from ODOT’s US20: PME Project.

MB&G Project Manager Stuart Myers has worked on this project since inception, and reflected back on eight years of work stating, “The project has achieved the intended goals we established with ODOT in 2015 and is a testament to effective collaboration amongst multiple stakeholders with a focus on restoring and enhancing sensitive natural resources. It has been a privilege to lead this project and demonstrate the effectiveness of a turnkey mitigation project delivery approach.”
