Teak Awareness Day takes place on April 12 in the U.S. For over a decade, the staff at MB&G have been working on teak plantation and other forest valuations across Central America. These photos show an inspection trip a few years ago to eastern Panama to look at a client’s teak plantations. Native to Southeast Asia, for centuries teak (Tectona grandis) has been used for a wide variety of applications, from fine quality, finished indoor use to shipbuilding and utility poles. Teak’s natural rot resistance and high silica content render it one of the most durable lumbers for exterior use, while its easy workability and cultural preference also makes it valuable for high end aesthetic applications. Although widely known, Teak is still a niche product on a global scale accounting for only about 2% of total tropical roundwood production.

MB&G is proud to support the 2026 John Aho Golf Tournament by donating a pair of MB&G-branded pickleball paddles and balls for the tournament’s silent auction. Hosted by the Northwest Oregon Subsection of the Pacific-Northwest Section AWWA (PNWS-AWWA), the annual tournament raises funds for the John Aho Memorial Scholarship Fund and Water For People, helping support future water professionals while expanding access to safe water and sanitation in communities around the world.
