Coos Watershed Association: Tioga Creek Restoration

“#fieldfriday update from the Tioga Creek restoration team: this month, our contractor (TNT Construction and Excavation) placed new bridges over tributaries to the creek, which replaced old, failing culverts that were removed in 2021. Bridges allow for free flow of water and better transport of sediment, along with providing much better fish passage to upstream spawning and rearing habitat. If these bridges look unique, it’s because they’re repurposed railcar bridges, which can be a quick, effective way to get a bridge in place!
